This Week’s Service:

PRELUDE     “Reflections of the Spirit”                                                  Raney

(And all God’s people said:) Amen.

*HYMN      “I Love to Tell the Story”                                                     #462

1 I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true;
it satisfies my longings as nothing else could do.

I love to tell the story; ’twill be my theme in glory
to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.

2 I love to tell the story; ’tis pleasant to repeat
what seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet!
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
the message of salvation from God’s own holy Word. (Refrain)

3 I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
seem hungering and thirsting to hear it, like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
’twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long. (Refrain)

God, you uphold those who are falling and raise up all who are bowed down. There-fore we confess our sins—both things we have done and things we have left undone—in every confidence that you will open your hands to us in an embrace of forgiveness and love. Amen.

Dearly beloved, through the power of the Spirit that is at work within us God forgives our sins and strengthens our inner beings. So now live knowing the love of Christ, which surpasses all knowledge and fills us with the fullness of God.

Thanks be to God!

SERMON          “The Ghost with the Most”

*HYMN          “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”                                  # 286

1 Breathe on me, Breath of God; fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do.

2 Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure.

3 Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.

4 Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.

(And all God’s people said:) Amen.

*HYMN            “Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ”                    #526

1 Let us talents and tongues employ,
reaching out with a shout of joy:
bread is broken; the wine is poured;
Christ is spoken and seen and heard.

Jesus lives again; earth can breathe again;
pass the Word around: loaves abound!
Jesus lives again; earth can breathe again;
pass the Word around: loaves abound!

2 Christ is able to make us one;
at the table he sets the tone,
teaching people to live to bless,
love in word and in deed express. (Refrain)

3 Jesus calls us in, sends us out
bearing fruit in a world of doubt,
gives us love to tell, bread to share:
