Pastor Dennis is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and was ordained on June 6, 1982. He grew up near Pittsburgh and has served pastorates in both Pennsylvania and Ohio. He returned to Pennsylvania and was installed as the pastor of Providence on March 4, 2012. In addition to his service here at the church, Pastor Dennis is a member of the Presbytery’s Administrative Umbrella Team and the Presbytery Judicial Commission. He also serves as a part-time casual chaplain at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He and his wife, Kathy, have been married 45 years and have two grown children and five grandchildren.

Peggy is responsible for the adult choir and the bell choir. She arranges to have musicians and artists from the congregation and local area minister to the congregation during the summer when our adult choir takes a hiatus. Peggy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Secondary Music Education and a Master’s degree in Voice, from the Pennsylvania State University. Peggy is a retired music educator. She taught in the Altoona Area School District for 35 years, teaching elementary, junior high, and senior high students. Peggy developed choirs in each of these levels. She especially values and enjoys working with choirs. Peggy’s experience with church choirs, both adult and children has spanned the past 28 years. She says, “Our desire as choir, accompanist and director, is that the Holy Spirit will empower us to minister to the congregation and lead in the worship of our loving God.”

Carol has been serving as an organist and/or choir director at several area churches for more that 40 years. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Carol taught elementary and junior high school vocal music and general music for 33 years for the Altoona Area School District. Carol also studied music therapy at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. for several years. Carol now spends her time practicing for church services; arranging hymns for the pipe organ to be used in our church services; singing in the choir; doing volunteer work; baking and cooking; and working on home improvement projects. Carol is married to Bill McCracken. She has two step-children and a dog, named Buddy.

Barb was a member of the former Broad Avenue Church for 36 years. She taught Sunday school for 31 years, was treasurer for Women’s Fellowship for 17 years, and has been playing the piano for the choir and congregation for 10 years. Barb has served as an elder on Session for six years, and has been the Clerk of Session for several years. Barb has lived in Altoona all her life and she graduated from Altoona High school. Barb is presently at a Hallmark store. She is married to Bruce Hazlett. Barb has two sons. Patrick is married to Tiffany and they have five children. Son Brett has two dogs and a cat. Barb also has a cat (who thinks she’s a dog) named Casey. Barb is so very thankful for her loving family and for her wonderful church family as well.

Kimberly has been the administrative professional at Providence Church since 2006. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Business (Accounting). Kim has one son, David.
